The Complete Works of the Han Dynasties, edited by Dong Zhian, was published by Shandong University Press, and won the Shandong province social science outstanding achievement award in November 2011.

It embodies the editor's idea of "striving for perfection". All documents from the historical period from 206 BC to 220 AD are compiled. To this end, the editors searched all kinds of relevant documents and materials, sorted out and selected them carefully.

Moreover, it embodies the editors' academic pursuit of innovation in style. First of all, nearly 900 figures of the Han Dynasties are arranged in chronological order. Secondly, the literature materials are arranged with the characters as the unit, that is, under the name of each character, his monograph is listed first, his other works and single works are listed, and then other literature materials are listed. This compilation style is convenient for readers to use the complete works of the two Han Dynasties from two perspectives: the vertical development of the author's time and the horizontal comparison of the authors with similar times. It is not only suitable for the actual situation of the existing literature of the Han Dynasties, but also provides a new paradigm for compiling large-scale chronological literature collection in China.

The compilation of The Complete Works of the Han Dynasties lasted 14 years, with 36 volumes and more than 13 million words. It contains more than 870 works, including monographs and anthologies. It is the most complete large-scale series of existing documents of the Han Dynasty. It not only strongly promotes the study of the history of the Han Dynasties, but also contributes to the comprehensive summary of the characteristics of Chinese traditional culture. And it remains a basic project for the construction of the whole nation's culture.

The Complete Works of the Han Dynasties is an unprecedented large-scale collection of the existing documents of the Han Dynasty. It is also a major achievement of the collation of ancient books in China since the new period.
