The Du Fu Dictionary, chiefly edited by Zhang Zhonggang with Zhao Ruicai, Song Kaiyu and Qi Wei as the vice editors, was published by Shandong Education Press in March 2009.

The original text of Du Fu's works in this dictionary is based on The Detailed Notes on the Poems of Du Fu published by Zhonghua Book Company in 1979. The entries of this dictionary are arranged in seven categories: abstract of the work, analysis of famous sentences, words and idioms, the background of family and friend, places of interest, cataloging of edition, and research scholars. The works are arranged in the order of The Detailed Notes on the Poems of Du Fu. The analysis of famous sentences, words and idioms, family friends, place names and places of interest are arranged in the order of strokes. The contents of the abstract mainly include the original text of the work, the explanation of the title, the writing time, the writing place, the outline of the content, the ideological art, the influence on the later generations and the comments on the later generations. The cataloging of edition includes the complete works, selected works, research materials and research works about the poems and essays of Du Fu. The dictionary introduces the author, publication and main contents of the works on the study of Du Fu at home and abroad, and comments on its characteristics and contributions. All the scholars who have contributed to Du Fu's life, editions of Du Fu's poems, translation, dissemination and research are included.

The Du Fu Dictionary is the largest summary of Du Fu's research in contemporary times, and it is the most important reference book for the study of Du Fu. The book is large in scale and complete in style with the latest research results, comprehensive search and detailed research.
