Recently, China Academic Journals (CD Edition) Electronic Publishing House Co., Ltd. and China Scientometrics and Bibliometrics Center jointly released the 2022 Annual Report for Chinese Academic Journal Impact Factors (Social Science). The impact factor of Folklore Studies reached a new record high, and the composite impact factor (2.295), journal comprehensive impact factor (1.494) and impact factor of social sciences (1.420) all grew. In the K-history discipline category (including 42 journals), it was ranked No. 1, and the clout index (726.956) also increased significantly compared with last year.

In recent years, the Folklore Studies has always adhered to the implementation of the Party's and the country's philosophy and social science work policies, seized the new opportunities for the development of the new liberal arts construction of the Ministry of Education and the "double first-class" construction of Shandong University, and, with the correct leadership and strong support of the University, has always taken "sticking to the original spirit, leading innovation, displaying high-level research achievements, supporting the growth of outstanding academic talents, and promoting academic exchanges between China and foreign countries" as the purpose of running the journal. It pays attention to academic frontier topics, focuses on discipline development trends, constantly forges ahead and improves the level of running journals. In 2022, Folklore Studies launched "Academic Frontier", "Field with Temperature", "Women's Folklore Research" and other special columns, striving to maintain the tradition of folklore research and tap the excellent traditional culture of China, so as to steadily expand the academic influence and gradually improve the reputation among the academic community.

It is reported that Folklore Studies will soon launch traditional columns such as "Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum", "Research on Etiquette Society", and add columns such as "Academic Contention" and "Construction of National Cultural Park". At the same time, the English version of Folklore Studies (Chinese Journal of Folklore), which is under preparation, has been exposed to a further demonstration and discussion, widely soliciting scholars' suggestions. The publication icon, layout design, etc has been basically determined, and the relevant editing is steadily advancing.
