Contemporary Confucianism is a collection of Confucian thoughts and theories sponsored by the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies, Shandong University, and Sichuan Thinker Research Center (editorial department found in Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies, Shandong University).

Two volumes are published each year (spring issue and fall issue). In recent years, the publications of Confucianism research have sprung up, but the contents of these publications are often so-called "objective" studies on the traditional "history of Confucianism". In this research, Confucianism has become a completely historical thing, which has nothing to do with today's social reality.

The concept of contemporary Confucianism in this journal refers to the new creation of Confucianism and the new theoretical form of Confucianism in China's "Confucian Renaissance Movement" since the reform and opening up, especially since the 21st century. The exploration of these thoughts and theories aims to respond to the call of the times and solve the problems in today's society.

The purpose of this journal is to promote the revival of Confucianism and the cultural prospect of Chinese nation through the research and evaluation of contemporary Confucianism. Therefore, the focus of this journal is the "living thinking" of Confucianism, which is intended to promote the ideological originality and theoretical construction of contemporary Confucianism, and to introduce important schools and representatives of contemporary Confucianism.
