Introduction to Folklore Studies

The journal Folklore Studies was started in 1985. It is the only academic journal of folklore that is published in China.

Folklore Studies introduces all round the latest achievements to the readers at home and abroad. It is one of the core periodicals of Chinese humanistic social science and the source journals of CSSCI with the national confirmation. The journal has been well received by the readers and domestic and abroad academia since it was started. It is regarded as “one journal that represents the top academic level of Chinese folklore”, owning its readers in all provinces in China and almost 50 countries and areas in the world.

The editorial committee of Folklore Studies is made up of the domestic famous folklorists. The director of the editorial committee is Qi Tao and the present editor in chief is Ye Tao.

All kinds of articles published in Folklore Studies attach importance to the academic quality and advocate academic innovation. The column set up in the journal includes academic forum, fieldwork report, folk custom history, the history of folklore, books on folklore and academic information etc.

Folklore Studies is a quarterly journal, with 272 pages for every periodical. It is published the last month of the quarter, with the distribution in the post offices all over the country.
