First published in 1951, this award-winning journal, Wen Shi Zhe, also known by its English name Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy, is published by Shandong University and is considered one of the most prestigious academic journals in China. Wen Shi Zhe has been one of the pillars of academic discussions in China since its first issue. Its broad range of humanities topics and dedication to creative research and academic value have kept it at the vanguard of intellectual trends for more than half a century. In 2013, the China International Book Trading Corporation ranked Wen Shi Zhe among the top 50 Chinese academic journals “most favored by overseas institutional users.” Drawing upon the resources and high standards of Wen Shi Zhe, Shandong University has decided to carry forward this tradition to the outside world, and has thus created an English-language journal on Chinese humanities.
