The Project Led by Professor Nie Jidong of Approved by the National Social Science Fund of China

On the afternoon of December 4th, the list of major projects of the National Social Science Fund in 2019 was announced. Eight projects of Shandong University have been approved, and the number of projects approved ranks ninth among universities in China. The project of "Research on Cataloging, Reproduction and Arrangement of Chinese Books in the Library of University of British Columbia" led by Professor Nie Jidong from the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies was approved.

Professor Nie Jidong is now the professor in the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies. She has been engaged in the research of literature and history of pre Qin, Han, Tang and Song Dynasties for a long time. The purpose of this project is to make full use of UBC to complete the reconstruction of Chinese ancient books. To carry out the research on the collation of relevant documents in various aspects is not only the development of the research on the collation of Chinese books in UBC library, but also the promotion of the cultural exchange between China and Canada. The successful practice of this project will further promote the international sinology research and promote Chinese culture to the world.

The major project of National Social Science Fund of China was set up in 2004, which is the highest level and the largest funding project in the field of philosophy and social sciences in China. In 2019, a total of 371 topics were issued for major projects of National Social Science Fund of China, and 364 projects were approved.
