Report on Development of International Confucianism (2016-2017) Published

Recently, the Report on Development of International Confucianism (2016-2017) edited by Yan Binggang and Li Lin of the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies, Shandong University was published by Shandong Friendship Publishing House.

This report is the overall survey of international Confucianism research and development from 2016 to 2017, aiming to summarize and analyze the annual development, communication dynamics and development trend of international Confucianism. The report is divided into six parts: the overall report, the spread and development of Confucianism in China, the development of folk Confucianism, the report on the development of Confucianism in the international region, the Confucian research institutions and organizations, and the views of international celebrities on the development of Confucianism. The report not only introduces and summarizes the research results of Confucianism in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, East Asia, Southeast Asia, North America, Europe and other regions from 2016 to 2017; it also summarizes the forums and conferences on Confucianism held in various countries and regions; there are also research reports on the promotion and dissemination of Confucianism at home and abroad.

The report points out that from 2016 to 2017, international Confucianism presents the following trends from a worldwide perspective: first, international theoretical research on Confucianism has made innovative development; second, the success various international academic conferences on Confucianism indicates that Confucianism is becoming an international hot issue in the academia; third, Confucian worship activities have been held all over the world. Confucius’s transformation from being criticized and researched into a respected figure reflects the awakening of the consciousness of the subject of Chinese culture; fourth, folk Confucianism is being widely and deeply carried out at home and abroad, and Confucianism is returning to people's normal life.
